About The Journal

PLASU Journal of Communication Studies is a bi-annual publication of the Department of Mass Communication, Plateau State University, Bokkos, Plateau State, Nigeria.

It aims to further one of the objectives of the establishment of Plateau State University, which is to encourage and promote scholarship and conduct research in all fields of learning and human endeavour.

Accordingly, the journal is committed to providing a forum for a solid collaboration between academics and professionals for the advancement of research and application in all areas of communications and media studies, including Digital Culture and Communication, Journalism, Broadcasting, Public Relations and Advertising, Communications Media Technologies, Feminist/Gender Studies, Book Publishing, International Media & Conflict Reporting, Media Representation, Interpersonal Communication, Cross-cultural Communication, International/Global Communication, Development Communication, New Media/Digital Communication, Theories of Mass Communication, Media Research, Conflict and Crisis Reporting, and other emerging areas.

The Journal publishes interdisciplinary, cutting-edge research articles that promote sound theoretical understanding and critical analysis of contemporary issues that advance societal development and promote the highest standards of scholarship and professionalism in communications and media studies.

PLASUJOCS's focus and scope is to provide a platform to publish top-notch, peer-reviewed research that advances academic conversation in media and communication.

particularly welcome and prioritise papers with methodological rigour, theoretical depth, and practical significance to media and communication practice. Also, our scope welcomes a broad spectrum of methodologies, such as mixed methods, case studies, qualitative, and quantitative approaches.

We equally appreciate research that attempts to decentre global north epistemology, explores novel approaches and methodologies outside the methodological canons of the global north, seeks to bring fresh perspectives to media and communication phenomena, and integrates interdisciplinary viewpoints.
